From Pennies to Plenty: A New Chapter

If you've been reading From Pennies to Plenty for a while, you may have noticed that things are changing around here.

The blog started out as a way to share things I found helpful with others. I mainly wrote about saving money and making money in everyday ways. Over time, reselling gradually became the main subject of the blog because it was what readers were most interested in.

Now that reselling is no longer a major part of my life, I'm returning to the broader idea of what I originally wanted the blog to be.

While I've written many posts about reselling, my favorite post I've ever written was actually a simple one about ways to practice gratitude every day. It was never a popular post, but it has stuck with me through the years.

I've always liked the idea of a broader sense of the word "plenty." It’s not something strictly financial but a feeling of having a life that is full of good things. And so, this blog is returning to that idea.

Why I decided to transition

Until a few years ago, I was very much into reselling. I liked thrift shopping, selling online, building my side hustle, and meeting other resellers. Readers liked it too.

But both blogging and reselling have changed over the past few years. Reselling became more popular and less rewarding for me. As more people started doing it, it became harder to find things to sell for a worthwhile profit, and I eventually stopped enjoying spending hours shopping at thrift stores looking for inventory.

Blogging also began to take a back seat to video, podcasts, and other forms of content. My blog traffic dropped significantly after Google's Helpful Content Update. Around the same time, I was losing interest in blogging because writing took so much time. I wanted to explore other interests I had outside of blogging.

I eventually decided to take an indefinite break from both blogging and reselling.

What happened during the break

Over the past two years, I've had time to figure out what I actually want to write about when I'm not focused on getting traffic.

I realized that the things I'm naturally interested in and want to write about aren't necessarily the things that generate the most search traffic. And I’m okay with that.

I want to write about my life and the things that make it feel plentiful.

What you'll find here going forward

This new direction is more about creating a plentiful life now and in the years to come.

I might write about a trip somewhere I've never been, a new experience, a ballet class or intensive, spending time with my dog, taking care of my health and wellness, my perspective on aging, or discovering a skincare product that I love.

Some of the old reselling posts will remain because they're part of the history of this blog and because they may still be useful to people who find them.

But I'm not trying to build the most visited blog anymore. I'm building a blog that reflects the life I'm currently living and the life I want to create. I’m writing about what "plenty" means to me now.

It's not necessarily about having more money, more things, or more of anything. It's about noticing what is already here. I want to write about the experiences, people, interests, small pleasures, and ordinary moments that make a life feel full.

So this is a new chapter for From Pennies to Plenty, but in some ways, it’s also a return to where I started: sharing the things I find meaningful, useful, or simply enjoyable. I hope this will help you find a little more plenty in your own everyday life.
